Michele's journey in homeschooling began in 2003 when she decided her oldest did not need to go to full-time kindergarten. She told herself she would take it a year at a time, and now, nearly 20 years later, still taking it a year at a time as she homeschools her youngest two children.
As the mother of 5, Michele has been incredibly stretched and blessed by the homeschool journey. She has hands-on experience homeschooling boys and girls, adapting my teaching for a variety of learning differences, such as: Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia, as well as auditory processing disorder. She has used a wide variety of curriculum and consider herself more of an eclectic homeschooler because she does not fit in the box of any one style.
Throughout the years, she has taught in co-ops and homeschool pods, and has even written a few literature-based curriculums. These have been used to meet the high school needs of her children as well as some of their friends. Michele's strengths are teaching in literature, history, geography and worldview. She says that her weaknesses in math and science has meant that she has had to learn how to get the help and find the resources her children need to succeed.
Michele's oldest is a Marine Reservist and a full-time paramedic. Her second is also in the medical field as an EMT working in behavioral health and ER rooms. Her third child is headed off to college after earning a private pilot's license.
She considers it a privilege to walk alongside others. The beauty of homeschooling is being able to create a unique learning environment based upon the needs and personality of each child. Michele enjoys helping others build upon the strengths of their family to create an environment where everyone thrives. The whole family matters in the homeschooling journey and she loves supporting and encouraging parents as they educate their children.
